Free'py is a contraction of free and photocopy. It is a noun, but can also be used as a verb. You can make a Free'py, Free'py a friend's notes, enter into a Freepstakes (Free'py sweepstakes), or get Free'py with a Free'py machine.

What does Free'py cost the students?

Students pay nothing to use a Free'py machine. They're absolutely free.

What does Free'py cost the university?

Besides space for the copy machine and an electrical outlet - absolutely nothing. Free'py provides the machine, paper, and all required maintenance free of charge.

How is Free'py free?

On the back side of the copies students make, we run advertisements relevant to students. Advertisements come in the form of discount coupons, new store openings, exclusive sales, contests and more.

Is Free'py only available at universities?

Yes. At the moment, we only offer the Free'py service at universities. If you are interested in bringing Free'py to your office, please contact freepmail@makeafreepy.com

What impact does Free'py have on the environment?

Being green is a very important part of Free'py and we've built that into every part of our service.

The machines we use are modern and energy efficient beyond industry standards, copies are made on FSC certified 100% post-consumer recycled (process chlorine free) paper, and the ink used is vegetable based (non-petroleum) ink.

We are also completely carbon neutral - restoring more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere than we emit - and are a CarbonFree Partner of the Carbon Fund.

For more details, check out our environment page.

Do the advertisements show through on the other side of the copy?

We use high quality paper to give you the best experience to view our ads and the contents of your photocopies on the other side.

Can anyone advertise with Free'py?

Free'py has a strict advertisement policy. The policy can also be amended to comply with university specific policies. Click here to read more about advertising restrictions.
